The 7 p.m. ball features a night of entertainment while benefitting a child with special needs, known as the "ambassador" for the night.
Ava Cristo, 7, will receive the $1,000 check this year, organizer Kim Powell said.
"Once you meet these kids, you continue to see them," Powell told Daily Voice. "You really get to know them because at all of our functions they're not forgotten."
The Elks long have a tradition of helping people with special needs through Elks Camp Moore and other events, Powell said.
The Charity Ball is one of the largest for the Elks, with around 120 to 130 guests each year. The evening includes a band, beefsteak, giveaways and more.
Powell said it used to be more formal with tuxedos and gowns, but became more casual the past few years.
A past ambassador for the Charity Ball includes Devon Coyte of West Milford, the only recipient from the Elks' hometown.
"Pretty much now they're like yours," Powell said.
